We have just a half of December before New Year starts, and I know quite a few people are making New Year resolutions. Are you? I’m, and I am advising my friends to stop doing that. Let me explain it.
My coach said that New Year resolution is just another goal attached to January 1st. Just a fancy way of doing it. Do you know that gym memberships really increase in January, and then it tapers off by March?
Going to the gym is a great goal, all right. Setting goals for the year is a great practice. But why wait until January 1st?
People wait until New Year, or next month, or Monday, or when stars align, or when numbers on the clock are set in Fibonacci sequence, whatever, I don’t know what they’re waiting for. If you want to do something, do it now. Today! Don’t wait until the whatever mark you set.
I am setting my goals for the year. But waiting until January 1st to get started is just another excuse. I apologize if I stepped on somebody’s toes. But I’ve been a serious procrastinator myself, and I had to change myself quite a bit. So I think I have the right to say what I said.
Please, set your goals for the year, but start acting now. And on January 1st you just check where you are and where you want to be in one year. Hope it makes sense.
