Let’s Have a Reality Check
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you’re having a terrific day wherever you are! Let’s breathe and smile.
I wanted to help people for as long as I remember myself. And also I met quite a few people who love helping others as well. And I think helping other people is wonderful.
I remember when I started practicing Yoga and Martial Arts, I thought it was the best thing that has ever been created on Earth. I still do. And I was surprised that not many people really shared my enthusiasm. Or to be more precise, they did not care. The same was sometimes true about my professional expertise. I can be the best, I can do this, and that. And people will be like, “Oh, well.”
I’ve learned a couple of things along the way. And one of them is the statement that people don’t care how much I know until they know how much I care. And that comes dow to a famous acronym WIIFM, which stands for “What’s In It For Me?”
What it translates into is if I have a message I’d like to deliver – let’s say something about health issues – and that may be the greatest news people may benefit from. I don’t want to deliver it just to showcase myself. Look what I know. And trust me, I’ve done it before. And nobody really cared, and I still was labeled as a nerd.
Instead, I am trying to identify the real problem somebody may have, and to be the one who can offer a solution. Simple, genuine “I can help you because I care and I know how” may change the World for that person.
My friend, I know that you know something only you know. But don’t show what you know. Show how much you care. Hope it makes sense.
Here’s a book I really suggest. You can get a FREE audio book through Amazon (Audible partner now)
