Self-talk is one of the biggest topics I teach. I cannot overestimate its power. We’ll talk more later. Today I want to make a point: be very careful what you ask yourself.
Let me give you some examples. Have you heard statements similar to these:
“Why am I being late?”
“Why my desk is a mess?”
“Why can’t I organize my room?”
“Why do I feel so clumsy today?”
“Why am I so tired?”
I know I’ve heard similar lines. Not only did I hear them, I used to ask myself similar questions that start with “Why?” I am sure most of people do, in their minds at least.
Now, here’s a danger of these questions. As I said before, our brain is a very complex computer. It is a controlling device of a very complicated machine which is our body. Our brain has no moral judgement or common sense. Our mind does, but not the brain. So, if we ask ourselves “Why I am feeling tired?”, trust me, our brain will come up with a very elaborate and logic explanation. It will not answer you “Come on dude, you are exaggerating. You are doing just fine!” Nope. It will answer the question exactly the way you ask it.
My point today is, learn to ask yourself correct questions. If you want to get organized, don’t ask yourself why you are not. Because you brain will tell you why, and it will not tell you how to fix it. Hope it makes sense.
Thanks for tuning in! You can subscribe to my podcast on my site HPLN.org.
Now let’s breathe and smile. I will talk to you next time.
PEACE!
Jin
