150 – Mindful Goals: 3 Crucial Steps on the Way to Great Success

I’ve heard a story from my coach about Henry Ford, who said, “If I asked people about what they wanted, they would say, Faster horses.” In reality, what they really wanted was to get from point A to point B faster. Nobody wanted to hear about cars. They stink, require gas and scare horses. Nobody would want to rearrange the whole economy for this crazy idea about cars. Well, the rest is history.
These are points I’d like to make.
- First, do you know what you really want? I met so many people who can talk about their goals, but that’s not what they are looking for. Let’s say for example, I set goal to make more money. Why? To buy a new car. Why? I can’t care less about cars! I just need to get from point A to point B faster and safer. Why? And this can go on and on, until we get to the bottom of it. Find your real reasons behind what you do.
- Point number two, many people, including myself, often look at the vehicle instead of a destination, which is that Why I just talked about. If you can get a shiny new bicycle or an old rusty car that will get you from A to B several times faster, and you wouldn’t have to pedal, which one would you choose?
- Finally, no matter what vehicle you choose, it has to be moving. You cannot sit down and slide uphill. You got to put something into it to get something out of it. We all have different talents and abilities. Get yourself a coach to find out how to use what you’ve got to achieve the best results. Think about that.
