Perhaps the main and most important concept of Mindfulness is being in the present moment. However, our mind has this habit of drifting away from NOW into the past or future. And I am guilty too, I admit. With multiple projects in life, we simply forget to be present.
But here’re 5 simple steps that help me to develop a habitual mindfulness.
First, prioritizing activities. Some things must be done ASAP, the rest I like separating into 2 categories. I’ll talk about them tomorrow.
Second, write them on the paper, very important. This removes unconscious fear that I may forget something. Besides, I keep a piece of paper on my desk to write down any thoughts that I remember I need to work on, and then I keep working.
Next, set time to think. If I promise myself I would, then I should. This gives me additional peace of mind that I won’t miss anything.
Number 4, I try to concentrate on what is in front of me now. I wrote the notes, I keep paper in case I remember something, and I set time to work on other projects. Now it is time to be present.
Finally, my secret weapon – Zen clock. Or you can get a free app called Insight Timer. I can set it to give me a chime, say, every 15 minutes. When I hear it, I just take a moment to enjoy a deep breath. That’s it. I just returned into the present moment. Now I can keep moving.
Hope this helps! Please let me know if you use any tricks for yourself. Apologize for my voice today.
Now let’s breathe and smile. Thanks for stopping by. I will talk to you tomorrow.
PEACE!
