067 – Our Learning Capacity and Grocery Store mentality
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. I hope you are doing great in your corner of the World! Let’s breathe and smile.
Today I will talk about learning. We start learning right after we are born, and we do it all our life. Some of us do it actively, others – passively. That is a different talk.
I’d like to discuss today what is called…
A Grocery Store Mentality in learning

When we go to the grocery store, we buy several items we come for, and perhaps something that catches our eye. Something we may remember to buy while we are there, or something we think we may need as long as it fits the categories of stuff we buy.
Here’s a key phrase: We only buy stuff we came for, and perhaps something that catches our attention. The longer we go to that store, the more we discover what’s there.
The same thing is going on with learning. For example, if we read the book, there’s only small part that our brain is capable of digesting. We have our own expectations, and we only buy what we came for, and perhaps a little bit more, if we come with an open mind.
I know if I read the book more than once, I discover things I did not notice the first time. Or perhaps I was just not ready to receive what was in the book. And some books I put aside until later, when my mind is ready to comprehend it.
Most likely, you won’t be learning what I am learning. But whatever you’d like to learn, remember, it takes more than just read the book once, or listen to CD, or watch DVD once. Get back to that and do it again, and again, and you will find out how much you missed.
Think about that.
Thanks for tuning in! You can subscribe to my podcast on my site HPLN.org.
Now let’s breathe and smile. I will talk to you next time.
PEACE!
Jin
