024 – Do You Know What You Are Doing? Devastating Power of Intent

I remember running down the stairs. At the very bottom I expected to have another step, but I miscalculated, and – BANG! – I almost fell down because my intent was to have another step, so my body inclination, and the speed of my foot were set by my subconsciousness according to my expectations. But I missed the count, and it created some discomfort.

Yeah, I know, this was an easy one. I’ve had those more than once in my life. But I see it on a much greater scale daily, both in martial arts and in every day life. We do things mechanically, we trust our previous experience, and subconsciously we expect a certain outcome. But what if we miss something?
– BANG! – we throw ourselves out of balance by using our own intent. This may cost us a lot, and not just money.
That’s why mindfulness, observation, being in the moment, help us to be present, notice small details and adjust our actions accordingly. Hope you’re in.
