Many years ago I read an old story about an American Physicist Robert Wood. One day he decided to experiment with Opium on himself. Mr. Wood found the drug, smoked it and passed out. Of course! After he woke up, he remembered solving a very important scientific problem while being under influence, but he could not remember the solution. Bummer!
Well, sometimes the science requires sacrifices, and Mr. Wood decided to repeat the experiment. He smoked Opium once more, and the idea came to him again! Before passing out he managed to write it down.
When brave scientist woke up, he read his note, “Banana’s big, but banana skin is bigger!” Genius!
Don’t do this at home, OK?
Here’s the moral of the story I want to point at. Every day I see many people making business and life decisions. I am one of them, so I qualify to talk. But often even though decisions may sound great, nothing is working. Why? Because of banana skin mentality.
I made some decisions that later I looked at thinking, “where did that come from?” It came from the delusion, programming caused by the environment, close friends, media, whatever, Matrix perhaps. And our mind can rationalize anything we do, because at the moment we think of that idea as the greatest thing in the Universe. Is it?
However, life is not an experiment, and “banana skin solution” may cost a lot of time and money. Don’t wait for the wake up call.
I don’t know what I don’t know. I cannot tell if my decision is just a banana skin solution. My tip – find a coach who’s in life where you want to be. And ask.
Hope it makes sense.
Now let’s breathe and smile. Thanks for stopping by. I will talk to you next time.
