Beware of Dangerous Mindfulness!
Good morning, folks! I am Coach Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you’re having a fantastic morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
There’s one tendency in the society I noticed, that I’d like to talk about. That is picking on each other. And that is usually true between close friends or family members. It looks like one person is making fun of another person in a social setting. Meaning, with other people around. They usually call it having fun, or just kidding. Come on, can’t you laugh with us?
However, that simply is ridiculing a person publicly, making fun at their expense. And they may have a decent sense of humor. People may take a joke about themselves well and even participate in it, laugh with everybody.
I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I’ve been a subject for jokes. I learned to laugh at myself with everybody. And, sorry to say, I joined the army or such jokesters. Until one day I realized I was actually destroying somebody else’s self esteem.
Listen carefully, guys, this is huge! Our subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between a joke and the reality. There’s an old folk saying, “tell the person 100 times he’s a pig, and he will oink.
Be careful! Whatever you say and think is funny, other person’s subconscious mind will take as a new reality. Mindfulness has no moral judgment, and it may work both in constructive and destructive mode. Keep it in mind!
Here’s a couple of books I really suggest:
-
“Dynamic People Skills” by Dexter Yager
-
“What to Say When You Talk to Yourself” by Dr. Shad Helmstetter
Thanks for stopping by. I will talk to you next time.
