What is Daily Meyama?
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are having a magnificent morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
If you practice Yoga, you should know about Yama and Niyama, first two out of 8 limbs in Yoga. I will talk about Meyama today. Have you heard of it?
OK, I am being a bit sarcastic now. I came up with this word mixing Yama and Me, my Ego. Let’s look at it.
– Narcissism – admiring your appearance. I unfriended some people on Facebook because of the number of selfies. I have nothing against healthy self-control and checking progress, but making it a center of your attention is sure waste of energy. This is not what Yoga is about. No judgment here, just my belief.
– Hearsay. Yes, yoga teachers gossip. I’ve seen it quite a bit. Also I met some people who condemned me without even knowing the facts. But it’s their problem, not mine. Know before you judge, my friend!
– Arrogance. It looks ugly when somebody’s trying to pose as a spiritual being. It is so visible. Keep it in mind, especially if you want to be a yoga teacher, not a pop star.
– Short temper. Even negative people can easily be positive when all is good. Try to keep balance and be nice when things are not going the way you like. Especially to people who may be the reason why things are going chaotic.
– Criticizing. Perhaps, one of the easiest skills to acquire. Also, one of the least productive.
– Complaining. If you practice yoga, you should know about the power of the spoken word. Check out the book below.
Friends, I’m not judging. I’m in a bunch. I mastered these skills early in my life, that’s why I can speak. And I know they won’t help my progress. Or yours.
