Communication Barriers And What They Do
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are having a terrific morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
As I said many times, I grew up as a nerd. As a kid, I was reading encyclopedia as my easy reading. Oh yeah!
I don’t know though if my reading was the reason for my alienation, or I began reading as a result of being a social outcast. Kind of like, I cannot compete with y’all physically, but I can outsmart everybody in my sphere of influence. And I think I did. Being a straight “A” student, putting Rubik’s cube together in less than 2 minutes, solving 3 sets of math problems within time designated for one, so I could pass it to my friends. I was #2 in a city Math competition in high school. That would sure get you some attention. My friend, I graduated from the high school and entered a Medical University in Europe at the age of 16.
Now, I want you listen carefully. There’s a flip side of being such a nerd: it created major side effects, such as,
– Assumption – I already know what you know, feel and want, because I am a genius. Kidding?
– Arrogance – I don’t need to know what you know, feel and want
– Indifference – I don’t care what you know, feel and want
– Control – I don’t want you to know what I know, feel and want
Do you know anybody like that? If you didn’t, now at least you know me. That created such a massive obstacles in my life, it’s not even fun! Thanks God I found a way to overcome that.
Here’s a book I really recommend to read (you can get FREE audio book)
“Everyone Communicates, Few Connect” by John Maxwell
