Let’s talk about Business Networking
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you’re having a magnificent morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
I’d like to share quite interesting perspective on personality types. I got it from the book called “The Referral of a Lifetime” (see notes below)
The concept is really based on two types of people: people oriented and task oriented. The author is taking it one step further.
He was writing, and I quote it, “The four types are split into two words. The word on the left of the slash mark represents how people see you and who you are naturally. The word on the right of a slash mark is your natural tendency in business relationships.”
Relational/Relational type is completely built on relationships. People with this type don’t really think much about business side of the relationships. They love helping others, they want to be liked.
Relational/Business type begin with relationships. They need to become friends first, and then talk about business. Actually, this is what I am doing. I am trying to see if the person I am talking to can even be my friend. If we have something in common, similar values. Because if we don’t, I may not want to do long term business with those people.
Business/Relational, as you can guess, starts with business. And after business gets going, the relationships start forming.
The last type is Business/Business. These people are not interested in relationships much unless there’s legitimate business reason to do it.
Personally, I cannot relate to those people. I don’t even think I have any friends like that.
Even though there’s nothing wrong with any of these types. They all work, just like personality types. It is good for people to know their business personality so they can develop consistent strategy.
Here’s the book I was talking about. You may get it as a FREE Audiobook!
