020 – How Can We Choose Best Time And Place For Meditation?
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. I hope you are doing great in your corner of the World! As usual, we start with a breath and a smile. What a wonderful day!
People often ask, what is the best time and place for meditation?
I will give you my perspective as of today. Keep in mind it is quite different from what it used to be 30 years ago. In a next decade or so it may change again.

I used to think that I need a specific place and specific time to meditate. I used to get up as early as 4:30 in the morning for Yoga and meditation practice. I love practicing at the sunrise. There’s nothing like sitting in Lotus posture on the top of the hill at 5 AM, breathing fresh air and watching the sun going up. I still love it! I must admit those memories are still inside my head like a standard of training for me. I also love the ocean. All this is great! Gardens, mountains, waterfall, sunrise, sunset are amazing for practice, if you have them handy. What if you don’t?
What I’ve learned along the way, meditation is not a specific technique. It is a way to keep our attention on something. And mindfulness meditation is suggesting to keep attention on what we are doing at the moment. It can be walking, eating , working, driving, playing music. Whatever. Just keep the attention on the present moment. Take a breath right now, and pay attention to it… Wonderful. Welcome to meditation.
I will be doing a series of video episodes about specific meditation techniques. Check out my site HPLN.org.
Thanks for tuning in! I will talk to you next time.
PEACE!
Jin
