027 – Are we relaxing for real or are we just fooling ourselves unintentionally?

If you are on the Path of mindfulness, if you are developing your mind, body & spirit, there’s one the most significant, in my opinion, question you have to answer: are you just fooling yourself unintentionally?
I’ve seen that happen, and I’ve done that too. Let me clarify.
Imagine yourself driving on the mountain road. It goes up, down, left, right. We watch carefully, we adjust speed, we are prepared to turn. That is great!
Life is the same way: Up, down, left, right. When it goes like that day after day, people may stop paying attention. They develop the rhythm. They know when to turn, when to push and when to release. And because all is done right on time, we may get a perception of being relaxed… until… the unexpected turn happens. Then people get out of balance, they get off track and think, “how did that happen? I practice meditation, I train daily.”
It happens because instead of paying attention, people try to create a controlled mini environment, where even high tension won’t reveal any stress until life throws a curved ball. Then all falls apart.
That’s why having a teacher, a coach or a mentor is quite important. Just get somebody who can see your blind spots. We’ll talk about it more.
