Controlled Mindfulness May Ruin Our Life
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope life is treating you well! Let’s breathe and smile.
I already talked about this before, but this topic is huge. This is one of the foundational principles in my stress management workshop.
I work with a lot of holistic professionals, yoga and meditation teachers. And as I observed, they’re getting stressed out all the time. And they teach relaxation.
I am teaching how to relax as well. And I remember I came to see my teacher, who’s 85, and he said, “You are so tense. Stress, perhaps?”
So I am not pointing fingers at anybody other than myself. And here’s what happens.
Our brain is capable of adjusting really well. Seems like our life nowadays becomes a routine, for the most part at least. We know when we go to work , when we have lunch, when we go home, what we’re going to do, etc. So our brain identifies a pattern, whatever that pattern is – Up, Down, Right, Left, and so on – and it starts adjusting our moves accordingly. That’s why we may be very tense and rigid. But our brain makes us move according to the established life pattern, and that creates a feeling of being relaxed.
And all this goes well until life makes an unexpected turn. At that time we hit the invisible wall at full speed, and we begin wondering: how did that happen?
There are ways to avoid this fake feeling of relaxation. But we need a teacher, a coach.
Solution?
I like teaching these principles of relaxation through mindful movements, especially practicing with a partner Tai Chi pushing hands, or Bagua sticky hands, or drills from Shou Dao or Systema. There you can instantly see if you are relaxed or not.
So, if you are in Phoenix, I’d love to see you in my Qigong class in Scottsdale. Let’s relax!
Thanks for stopping by.
