About our Mindful Responses…
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope life is treating you wonderful wherever you are! Let’s breathe and smile.
There’s one phenomenon I observed, and participated in, when I was a kid. I often call it “The Sandbox Battle”. What it means, if you throw sand at me, I will throw it back at you. Just like that. Makes sense, right?
Unfortunately, so many people take this mindset in their adult life. You touch me, and I will touch you back. And trust me, friends, I am guilty of that. But keep in mind, in my early teen years I got sick and tired of being a subject for jokes. My martial art training was about getting back with those who were making fun of me. So, my philosophy became “Touch me, and your first karate lesson will be free!”
However, physical and psychological battles are identical. People respond to emotional push the same way as physical. And that results into what we see so often in the society. Conflicts. Stress. Psychological disorders. Depression.
Yes, I learned to fight. However, it took me a while to realize that I still had to face my biggest opponent. I am not done yet, but I’ve made some progress. I will teach you 10 simple steps to master your emotional fight. Repeat after me:
One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
Ten
That’s it. Just count every time in your mind before the battle. This is like a mantra that helps me to win over my biggest enemy: myself. My Ego. It helps me to avoid the first emotional response and desire to do something stupid I may regret later. This is what martial art is about. Not fighting, but rather keeping the clear mind and making right decisions in every situation.
Think about it.
