About Shifting Perspective
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope life is treating you great wherever you are! Let’s breathe and smile.
Have you ever tried to communicate a message to somebody, and then realized that people don’t hear you? Maybe you are a coach who’s trying to help people make their lives better. Or maybe you are a physician, or a chiropractor, acupuncturist, nutritionist, massage therapist. Or maybe you are a yoga and meditation teacher. Or maybe you are a parent who’s just trying to communicate something to your kids. I don’t qualify to teach child’s psychology. But I will tell you what I’ve learned along the way about teaching the adults.
Over the years, I discovered a whole lot of things that did not work, and just a few that did. Here’s one of them.
In general, people don’t care about what you offer and what you know. Until they know it can help them and you care. You may really care to help me with chakra balancing, but I won’t rearrange my schedule to come to your class until I know what’s in it for me. If the person does not know benefits of acupuncture, or nutrition, they won’t care about it until you and I educate them.
Keep in mind that their goals may be different from yours. We need to know enough about other people so we can discover what they really want or maybe what they don’t want. People don’t go to heart surgeons for fun. They just don’t like the alternative. Our job is to discover their real needs, and tell them about solution in their language. People need to clearly see how your solution can help with their specific problems. BTW, that was item #2 on today’s list.
Think about it.
Thanks for stopping by.
