About Embracing Inevitability
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope life is treating you great in your corner of the World! Let’s breathe and smile.
Today we’ll talk about stress again. Yes, this is one of my favorite topics I like teaching.
Have you ever gotten stuck in traffic? I have. Lots of my friends have too. I’ve seen people pounding on the steering wheel, looking right, left, back… Obviously they were not comfortable in that moment. Do you know how much unnecessary stress that creates? I do. How? I’ve been there too.
Sometimes life happens not the way we’d like to see things going. The first thing that comes to mind is “Oh no!” Especially if there’s something important I have to do.
Then I started asking myself, “What am I doing?”
You see, if I am stuck in traffic, there’s nothing I can do about that. It won’t make any difference even if I get furious. There’s a famous prayer:
God, give me serenity to accept things I cannot change,
The courage to change what I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
For me, instead of getting anxious, I started implementing these three things:
1 – If it’s inevitable, let it be. I cannot change it.
2 – Get the best out of situation. I have audio messages from my coaches to listen to in the car. Or even audio books. So I use it to my advantage.
3 – Instead of getting mad, I use my mind for creative thinking about what can I change in my situation and how to minimize the consequences.
BTW, I have some of my podcast topics created while I was driving. I use my iPhone and audio recording app to record some of my ideas, including stress management seminar I will be teaching this coming Sunday in Scottsdale, AZ.
I will be teaching and physically demonstrating this during my workshop at Sumits Yoga in North Scottsdale, AZ. So come by!
Make sure you subscribe to my newsletter since I will be teaching this course again.
Also, my friend Julia will be teaching an amazing workshop on April 22-24 in Sedona, AZ.
