Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are doing great wherever you are. Let’s breathe and smile.
I’ve been training for over 30 years in meditation, Qigong, Internal martial arts, Yoga, Tao Yin; studying Zen music for 13 years, and Chinese tea ceremony for 11.
I remember my teacher said, 10 years later you will be 10 years older whether you practice or not.
Today, looking back at those years, I can assure you, that 33 years later I am 33 years older. So my teacher was right, ha ha! But also I remember talking to my former classmates, and honestly I don’t share their emotions about life because they are not always very positive. I think training is not necessarily taking us somewhere. It allows us to keep what we got and make the best out of it. Does it makes sense?
I’ve been practicing circle walking and cloud hands Qigong for decades. People ask, how did you manage to stay with a program?
One thing that helps me to keep going is a mindset that I am not taking this long journey. I am taking one step only, and that step is called “today”. I am training for today. I am working on my goals I have for today. Whatever happens tomorrow will be tomorrow. And that keeps me from getting overwhelmed. Yes, practicing martial arts takes a lifetime. But not practicing also takes a lifetime. So I am not really losing anything, but I think I am gaining a lot.
Think about it, my friend. If you are planning to embark on a journey that scares you with its length, take it step-by-step, one day at a time.
