I’ll start today with a Quote by Max Frei: “I am leaving forever, and everybody’s always leaving forever. It’s impossible to return: somebody else is always coming back instead of us…”
People often ask me, “Jin, have you visited your home country since you came to the US?” No, I have not. The country I grew up in does not exist any more. The land is still there, cities and even streets. But my home is not there any more. This would be just like a trip to a foreign country.
You see, we have a snap shot of the world we used to live in. I have my memories too. Sometimes, like today, I may have nostalgic mood, and I remember some things from my childhood I really miss. Most of us have some attachments to whatever we have in our memories. And we keep it as a security blanket, something that makes us feel good. Just like a peaceful escape. And when we return to reality we realize that all those memories are just memories. We cannot go back. This is not a physical location. And that may create a frustration.
What’s my solution, you may ask? The only one I am aware of is learning to be a child again. Learn to dream. Make your dreams bigger than your memories. Then you won’t have to go back. You will bring all the amusement into the present moment. We’ll definitely talk more about setting and achieving goals and dreams. So, stick around.
