… undesirable desires.

Here we go.
Once upon a time, two potters lived in a village next to each other. One was well-to-do, and another one was really poor. The former had a donkey. So every day the man would load the animal with newly made pots and take them to the market place. The poor man had to carry his pots himself.
One morning a woman walked into poor man’t house.
“I am your Destiny,” she said. “I can grant one wish, anything you want.”
At that moment the wealthy neighbor was loading up the donkey to go to the market place.
“Look at that man,” the poor guy said. “Kill his donkey!”
The moment he finished the sentence, the animal fell on the ground.
And the next second the poor man realized what he did.
“Wait a second!” he shouted. “I made a mistake. Bring his donkey back to life, and give me one too.”
But it was already too late. The woman was gone.
I read a while ago that the Universe does not grant us our wishes immediately just to protect us from our own wishful thinking. In reality our desires may not be that desirable. They may even be scary sometimes.
You know, there’s even a joke about it.
God once asked a man, “What would you like to have? I can give you anything as long as your neighbor will get twice as much.”
“Thank you Lord,” the man answered. “Can you just take out one of my eyes?”
What would you like to have, my friend? Think about your own desires, and why do you want what you want? I don’t grant wishes, sorry. But this can be a fun exercise.
