031 – First step to calmness: Accept yourself the way you are to know where to go

I’d like to start this day and this week with the first quite important step towards calmness: let’s accept ourselves the way we are.

Easy to say. We all have tendency to judge and to compare ourselves to somebody else. I’ve done that too. If you listened to my other podcast channel, you may know that I had quite low self esteem as a kid. I have not arrived yet. Moreover, I have not met many people who really accept themselves as they are.
So, my suggestion today is stop comparing yourself to others. You are you, with what you have. You need to discover your own unique gifts.
Einstein wrote, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its life believing that it is stupid.”
Remember, whatever you learn to do, there will be always somebody who will do it better than you. Except one thing: nobody will ever be better than you in being you.
Discover yourself. Find your strength, find your unique gifts. There’s something you can bring to the World that nobody else can. What is it?
Now, listen carefully. I did not say get content with yourself. I did not say stop growing as a person. When you accept yourself as you are, when you identify your strengths, then your real growth begins. I will be talking about this in my lessons.
