Two Minutes On Missing Goals
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. I hope you’re doing terrific in your corner of the World! Let’s breathe and smile!
Today I will continue sharing with you some of the lessons I got from carving the coin past weekend.
My second though was about the length of my job. It took a bit longer than I anticipated. Should I get frustrated?
I’ve met quite a few people who got frustrated over some things that took longer or cost more. It didn’t bother me too much. It was that I could not finish it before my imaginary deadline. But who’s judging?
Here’s a coin I engraved…
After practicing martial arts, tea ceremony, studying Japanese shakuhachi flute, I know better to keep practicing. Deadlines are like landmarks when we are hiking: we set it, get to the landmark, and reset it to something new.
There’s another side of the coin, no pun intended. We need to evaluate the effort and time and to make a decision is it worth it to continue? Is it a hobby? Or a business? Or a lifestyle principle? What’s the outcome? Am I going towards the worthy goal, or am I just a wandering generality?
This is not a question we can always easily answer. This is one of the cases when I definitely suggest a coach. A mentor. Or a teacher. Somebody who has a fruit on the tree, so to speak.
Will it take longer? Most of the time, I’d say. But if it’s worth it, keep going. 5 years down the road you may wish you would’ve started today.
Think about it!
