Garden Gnome Is Right In Your Garden!
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. What a wonderful morning it is! Let’s breathe and smile.
I remember when I was a little kid, we lived in my grandma’s house. It had a really nice front yard, back yard, and a large garden with many fruit trees, various berries. Enough to eat the whole summer and preserve it for the winter.
In the winter, the garden was dormant, as you can imagine. Even though we did not live in the cold part of the country, we did get some snow periodically.
I was 4 or 5, and I was playing outside in a snow one day. And that winter was pretty snowy. I wanted to go to the garden, but at the very end I saw somebody. And I didn’t know if it was a small person sitting there or a garden gnome. So, I ran back home and told my grandma. She smiled, but she went out and we went to the garden. Once we got close, I realized that it was just a 3 feet toll stump partially covered with snow. Funny snow pattern made it look like a person’s face from a distance.
Yes, I still remember that. And as funny as it sounds now, we all do it.
We All Do It!
How many of those garden gnomes do we have in our life today? We can get bits and pieces of information, and our imagination builds up the whole picture of who knows what. And we, yes, I’ve been guilty too, we don’t bother for some reason to get close to the issue and study what that really is.
My friend, if you look at something and think – “Yeah, I know what it is!” – keep in mind, that it can be just another garden gnome in your life. Look close to make sure your perception is not altered by your imagination.
