What are these Mindful Quadrants?
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are having a terrific day! Let’s breathe and smile.
When I was a kid, I had a very childish, obviously, idea of our consciousness: there were things I told my friends, and there were things I didn’t. Simple, right?
Not so fast. After I grew up, I found out that we can point out at least 4 areas of life we have to be aware of.
There are things we know about ourselves, and everybody else knows about us. That is called Obvious. That is our major habits, preferences, likes and dislikes, choice of music, etc. Something you and I put on the Facebook.
Next area is called Secret. We all have hidden thoughts and even habits that nobody knows about except us. This is our private life.
The flip side of this coin is called Blind Spots. Yes, we have those too. There are things others know about us, but we don’t. Unfortunately sometimes people’s habits from secret area leave clues in the blind spot and we don’t see it. This is how secret becomes obvious. It may be very embarrassing, or even devastating to our lives.
Finally, there’re things that neither we nor anybody else knows about us. That is undiscovered territory.
I am working in all four of these areas, as my coaches suggest.
Obvious – I try to play to my strengths and admit my weaknesses. There are many, and everybody knows about them anyway.
Secret – Don’t keep anything hazardous inside of me that can destroy my life if I make a mistake storing them.
Blind spots – we all have them. This is where a good coach or a good friend comes really helpful.
I am also trying to move into Dark Territory by pushing myself out of comfort zone and going where I’ve never beed before. So I can discover my potential. Does it make sense?
Thanks for stopping by.
