About Mindful Vulnerability
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are having a Magnificent Morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
Many years ago when I was a kid, I remember how important it was to show everybody how strong I was. Of course, you never want let other people know that you have weaknesses.
I think most of kids go through that stage, but some manage to keep this mindset even after they grow up. Especially obvious it is in some CEOs and top management people.
Even I felt I got some of that “show-your-strong-side” mindset. Employees should never see the weaknesses of their iron leaders. Right?
Well, the problem is, they do. Fortunately for me, I met some great coaches early in my life who gave me the reality check.
I was listening to John Maxwell, and he said, the only thing you can do by admitting your weaknesses is to let other people know that you know. Because everybody else already does.
By admitting our weaknesses as teachers, coaches, leaders, we may become more vulnerable. But this is what gives us strength. We can relate to more people. We can help more people by our own example. What can you teach me if you don’t have any flaws? How can you make me a warrior if you never been hit by life? I’ve seen some knights in a shiny armor, and it’s nauseating.
I won’t tell you how to be perfect. I’ve never been. But I may share with you how to get up after the battle, dress your wounds and smile to the World. Muhammad Ali said, “…Ain’t nothing wrong with going down. It’s staying down that’s wrong.”
My friend, you may feel low sometimes. The whole World’s going against you. All you want to do is get on your knees and cry. Then the morning comes, and you’ll be all right. Ask me how I know.
Thanks for stopping by.
