3 stages of Brilliant Ideas before they get accepted:
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. What a wonderful day today is! Let’s breathe and smile.
Today is kind of a sequel to my episode form the last week about numbers game.
Have you ever had a good idea, maybe an invention or a business plan, and your friends told you it was stupid? I had, more than I like to admit, in fact. And I think being an introvert, I buried some of my ideas and walked away. And I see people who do it every day.
Humans used to think that the Earth was flat sitting on 3 whales or 3 elephants, depending on what culture you study.
Then they thought that the Earth was the center of the Universe.
Things have changed by now. We got some technological progress going on. In the year 1899 the Commissioner of the US Patent Office made his famous statement: “Everything that can be invented has been invented.” Would you say it was an overstatement?
How about Ken Olsen in 1977: “There’s no reason for any individual to have a computer in his home.” He was the founder of Digital Equipment Corporation, known as HP today.
What I’d like to point out, is that every brilliant idea will go through 3 stages of acceptance.
1 – “That is so stupid!”
2 – “Well, it makes some sense.”
3 – “Who doesn’t know that?”
The length of each stage will vary.
Keep in mind, my friend, if you come up with an idea, you will face opposition. Especially if it’s contradicting the main stream school of thought.
You don’t want to come out of the woodwork and push your idea in everybody’s face. But don’t get discouraged. Do your due diligence. Don’t ask wrong people for advice. And work on your idea to prove it right.
Thanks for stopping by.
