Positive Mindfulness and True Positive Attitude
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you’re having a terrific day! Let’s breathe and smile.
Many people are talking about positive mental attitude. You know, to see glass half full instead of half empty, and so on. And I really like that philosophy. I started working on my own attitude. Life is great! Yes, it is.
There was, however, one argument from so called “realists”, who were saying that optimists don’t see the reality. They live in the dream. At some point I even tried to argue with them. Just a little bit, and definitely positively 🙂
As I was studying success coaches, like John Maxwell, and several others, I discovered that I had quite inaccurate understanding of what PMA really was. In fact, quite a few people I’ve met had the same issue.
Positive mental attitude does not require waking up in bliss every morning and walking all day long with beatific smile on the face. It does not mean covering up any problems in life with positive quotes and day dreaming. And I tried that. You know, fake it until you make it. Let me make it easy for you: you won’t make it.
Positive mental attitude is based on reality. Telling yourself “I got $10 for the remaining 2 weeks of the month, I’ll be all right” and then sitting and watching TV, is not a positive attitude. I call it “blissful stupidity”. But you can tell “I got $10, but here’s what I can do to make more”, and then just go and do it. That is a positive attitude.
Positive mental attitude is defined by what we do, not just by what we say.
Think about it.
