How Really Small Are Tiny Efforts?
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are having an terrific morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
Many years ago I read a story. I told it before, but it’s worth telling again.
One day a school boy noticed another quite dorky looking student who was carrying the whole bunch of text books from his locker. Who in the right mind would be cleaning his locker before the summer vacation? Come on!
The kid stumbled and dropped several of his books, and the guy who saw it came to help. He picked up the books, and help to carry those. Not a big deal, right? They talked a little, and they became friends through the high school.
At the high school graduation, one of the students, who graduated with honors, was giving a speech. He was talking about how he was bullied. Nobody liked him. He did not have any friends. So he made a decision to commit a suicide. On his way he decided to clean his locker so his mom would not have to do it. That was when he met his friend who offered help. And his life changed forever.
I don’t remember where I read it, but it’s irrelevant.
How often do we think of ourselves as somebody insignificant. I can’t really change anything. Is that true?
We never know how small act of kindness can change somebody’s life. We never know what impact will it make on the World. There’s often such a thin thread leading to a global changing event.
I read quite a few stories like that. And, wow… Perhaps I am becoming more sentimental with age. But just to finish on a light note, my friend, if you ever see yourself small and insignificant, try sleeping with a mosquito. Think about it.
Thanks for stopping by.
