Discovering challenges in life 🙂
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you are having a terrific day! Let’s breathe and smile.
I will tell you a joke today, but it does have some great wisdom in it.
One day a man was praying and complaining to God,
“Father, my life is so hard. What can I do?”
“Take your goats inside your house to live with you,” God answered.
The man was surprised, but he did it.
Next time he was praying, he said,
“Father, life is even tougher. Can you help?”
“Yes,” God answered. “Take your pigs inside.”
The man was surprised even more, but he did.
Next time he was praying,
“Father, it is much harder. Can you help?”
“Yes, bring your cow inside,” God said.
The man did, but the next time he was praying, he was crying.
“Father,” he said, “my life is unbearable. I don’t know what to do!”
“Take all your animals out,” God answered.
The man did, and the next time he was praying, he said,
“Oh Lord, I never thought my life was so easy! Thank you!”
This even became a running joke in our family. Whenever we’d complain about tough life, my mom would say, “Why don’t you get yourself a goat?”
My friend, we, humans, have a tendency to complain. We constantly don’t like something. But we often forget that no matter where in life we are, there will always be somebody who’s life is better than ours, and somebody who’s life is much worse.
Have an old car? Somebody has no car. And no home.
Your only shoes are falling apart? Somebody has no feet to put shoes on.
Your kids are creating a mess every day? Somebody’s praying every day asking for kids.
No matter how bad your life is, somebody’s praying to have what you have.
Perhaps my joke came out a bit emotional. But really, think about it.
Thanks for stopping by.
