So Popular Meaningless Predictions
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. Hope you’re having a terrific morning! Let’s breathe and smile.
I will get a bit philosophical today. A couple of days ago I was talking to my mom, and the topic of prophecies and predictions came up in a conversation. We joked about it, but I think this may present quite an issue.
You see, for as long as I can remember, we had some fortune tellers, who were predicting various major catastrophic events. In fact, at some point it became really popular. It seemed like there was always somebody making predictions about the end of the World. Also, there was another group of people, who were trying to interpret the prophecies of ancient philosophers, like Nostradamus. Again, about Apocalypse.
And I tell you, the media gets very persuasive. Many people believed. I think some of those predictions created mass hysteria in some parts of the World, and definitely contributed to global emotional tension.
I don’t know if I really believed them or not. They often set the specific date, and I didn’t believe that. I just don’t believe that ancient philosopher could predict a specific date in the calendar that was screwed up so many times during the history that we don’t even know the exact birthday of Jesus Christ.
And predicted dates were different. I saw once Apocalyptic calendar, where all predictions of the end of the World from different sources were recorded. That was funny. Pick your day and enjoy Apocalypse, so to speak.
I am not here to impose my beliefs or make fun of yours. However, I chose not to believe those philosophical proclamations about the end of the World. My coach said, live until you die. You worries or mine won’t make any difference for the Galaxy, but they sure will make difference for us. Think about that.
