Developing Mindful Vocabulary…
Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. What a wonderful day today is! Let’s breathe and smile.
I remember years ago I read a story about a kid at school.
Somebody said, “We just built this mice model of an airplane.”
“So what,” that kid stated, “I could’ve done the same.”
Somebody showed, “Look, we just finished a nice kite!”
“Not a big deal,” the kid replied. “I could’ve done that too.”
Somebody planted a tree on the school yard, and the kid said, “So what? I could’ve done that myself.”
That was going on until somebody asked him, “Do you know the difference between you and us? We did, and you could’ve.”
Years later, my coach told me three words detrimental to anybody’s success. They are “could’ve, should’ve, would’ve”
I’ve been guilty of procrastination. Yes. And I must admit, I am getting some interesting ideas. Sometimes they may look a bit silly or even scary, depending on imagination and size of my dream. And I can testify, it is not fun seeing somebody else coming up with a very similar idea and implementing it. And becoming successful with it, while I’d be procrastinating and looking at that idea, and entertaining my own ego: “Look Jin, you sure got some nice ideas. You must be very smart. They are working!.. for somebody.”
However, there’s no success that comes out of great ideas. There’s no success that comes out glorifying our own intelligence. The most genius ideas won’t work unless we do.
My friend, why don’t we stop using these words: could’ve, should’ve, would’ve! And I am pointing at myself, because I am the first one who’s actively working on improving myself in that department.
Think about that.
Thanks for stopping by.
