Good morning, folks! I am Jin with Morning Mindfulness Podcast. I hope you are having a great day or night!
Today’s episode is rather practical. It is about Daily Mindful Glass of Water
When I started practicing Yoga in 1983, one of the advices I was given was to start and finish my day with a mindful glass of water. Not juice, definitely not soda. A glass of clean pure drinking water. Since then I have been following this advice for over 30 years. Yes, drinking mindful glass of water is the first thing I do after waking up and the last thing I do before going to bed.
In fact, I used to put a regular glass with water on my bed stand, and cover it with a lid from a Mason jar. I did not have refillable water bottles like people have now, nor did I have a small plastic water bottles. So now the task is much easier. But the principle is still the same. Drink water. Especially now, when summer is rather hot in Arizona.
Let’s take it one step further. Don’t just pour the water in your mouth, like I saw people do. Drink it mindfully. Take a few seconds to really enjoy your water. Sometimes I think of water like I am drinking something really magical. I take my time. I imagine something really good flowing into me. Something really pure. Besides, this is a really good moment to practice morning inner smile.
So I suggest that next time after you wake up, smile, take a deep breath, take a sip of water… slowly. Make a stop, take a breath. Smile. Drink more water. Repeat the cycle.
Mindful water drinking is a great practice. I do it throughout the day, not just morning and evening. This is a great time to stop running around and reset emotional levels inside. And smile. Keep this in mind.
On my web site hpln.org you will find the schedule of classes I teach, as well as links to my audio and video channels.
Thanks for tuning in! Now let’s breathe, Smile, and drink some water when you can. I will talk to you next time.
